Introduction 

The concept of virtual or remote teams is not a new phenomenon. However, advances in technology, globalisation, organisational structures and ways of working have meant that this approach has grown significantly over the last few years. The recent health crisis has also made this a necessity for many businesses. People are now much more likely to work from home, from their car, at alternative locations, or even on the other side of the world, which means managers might rarely see them.

Consequently, managers that are asked to lead these virtual teams not only face the usual leadership dilemmas, they also have to be able to adapt to these challenges in an environment where the rules have changed.

Managing virtual teams requires a different approach. It means developing new skills, communication methodologies and techniques to get the best out of teams and improve organisational and personal performance.

This programme aims to provide you with the tools and techniques to overcome these challenges. You will be provided with practical tips to help you lead effectively, communicate successfully and consequently increase the performance of your virtual or remote team.

What to Expect

You will participate in 4 fortnightly highly interactive workshops + 2 Q&A sessions, where there will be guest speakers, who will share what they have achieved since participating on this programme and their own experiences of managing virtually, their highs and there lows!

During the programme you will participate two 90 min coaching/mentoring sessions, providing you with a safe space to discuss the learning, your experiences and any challenges you wish guidance on. These session are 1:2:1 and strictly confidential.

The workshops are fortnightly to give you sufficient time to ‘practice’ your learning, which you will discuss with your workshop peers. The aim is to support and learn from one another.

This is a programme that will make a significant difference to your virtual management, and requires commitment. It’s high energy, which means its not all theory, its about learning the tools then trying them out, hence making a difference to you and your team immediately.

  2. Build engagement and trust with members of your virtual team
  3. Effectively use technology and tools to support communication within the team
  4. Improve your communication and feedback approach with your virtual team
  5. Track progress and performance management of team members to achieve success

I really enjoyed working with such a range of people across my organisation. It was interesting topics – different from the usual training I attend.

Coaching:

Thoroughly enjoyable. I think I was expecting a bit of a grilling and didn’t really know how to prepare/what to prepare. But Heather was kind, patient and just gently teased out issues for me to consider & work through with her. 

The coaching was excellent. I really enjoyed my time with Heather and I could’ve spoken to her all day!

I enjoyed the laughs that we had during the 1 to 1 sessions.

The coaching was incredible, I was feeling so stuck and overwhelmed, on many areas of my work, but talking through the issues and committing to actions, I am now back in control and feeling far less stressed.

Workshops

The dates and times are 2 weeks apart to allow for deliberate practice to take place.

Monday workshops – 10.30am- 12 Noon = 90mins

  • Introduction- Q&A setting the scene workshop:  10th August
  • Module One Workshop: 17th August
  • Module Two Workshop: 31st August + Guest speaker
  • Module Three Workshop: 14th September
  • Module Four Workshop:28th September + Guest Speaker
  • Q&A workshop: 12th October – Deliberate practice conversation + Guest Speaker.
